A donation can be a gift both to the recipient and to the Wasatch Community Gardens. Give a gift in someone's honor for a holiday, birthday, or to commemorate a meaningful occasion. Wasatch Community Gardens will send a photo greeting card depicting what your gift has helped to support.

General Gift

Provide opportunities for people to learn, grow and share fresh organic produce by giving to WCG. Any donation above $10 as an alternative gift will be recognized with a card sent to the recipient. Gifts will go to our General Fund and help us to meet our most pressing needs.

Your recipient will receive a photo card with the wintery image to the left, the card's default inscription will read, "Wishing you a peaceful holiday season and bright New Year. In lieu of a gift, a donation to Wasatch Community Gardens has been made in your honor. Your gift provides opportunities for people to learn, grow and share fresh, organic produce in the city. " You are also welcome to customize your card's inscription by writing your own text, or add to this if you wish.

Youth Gardening

Recipients will receive a card with the youth photo to the left, and an inscription which reads, " A donation to Wasatch Community Gardens' Youth Gardening Program has been made in your honor. Youth gardeners in urban afterschool programs will have the opportunity to garden and eat fresh, organic produce each week. Your gift has .... (choose an option based on the dollar values below, donation amount will not be indicated on card)

- ($25) provided plants for a youth class to grow one garden row of vegetables"
- ($75) purchased sixty pounds of organic youth-grown produce to donate to those in need"
- ($250) provided all the needed supplies for a class of twelve youth to grow a vegetable garden for one year."

Community Gardening

Recipients will receive a card with the garden photo to the left, and an inscription which reads, " A donation to Wasatch Community Gardens' Community Gardening Program has been made in your honor. Urban gardeners from diverse backgrounds have the opportunity and space to grow fresh, organic produce. Your gift will .... (choose an option based on the dollar values below, donation amount will not be indicated on card)

- ($10) provide drip irrigation supplies to water a garden plot"
- ($25) purchase a needed garden tool for community garden volunteers and gardeners "

Educational Workshop

Recipients will receive a card with the chicken photo to the left, and an inscription which reads, " A donation to Wasatch Community Gardens' Community Education Program has been made in your honor. New and experienced gardeners can learn organic and sustainable gardening techniques through free workshops. Your gift will .... (choose an option based on the dollar values below, donation amount will not be indicated on card)

- ($10) enable a new gardener to learn how to compost. "
- ($25) provide take-home materials for a gardening how-to workshop"
- ($50) help people learn to grow chickens in the city at our annual Tour de Coops."

Portion of the 4th East Garden

Recipients will receive a card with the green garden photo to the left, and an inscription which reads, " A donation to Wasatch Community Gardens Community Garden Fund has been made in your honor. The fund will help to purchase their 4th East Community Garden, a 25-year old garden at risk of being sold for development by it's third party owner. Your gift has purchased ___ cubic feet of the 4th East Garden's rich soil."

  • Each $20 increment protects 1 cubic foot of soil.

Food for those in need

Recipients will receive a card with the tomato photo to the left, and an inscription which reads, " A donation to Wasatch Community Gardens has been made in your honor. Youth gardeners in urban afterschool programs will have the opportunity to garden and eat fresh, organic produce each week. Your gift .... - ($10) provides tomato seedlings for a family in need to grow and eat."

How to Give an Alternative Gift

What is an Alternative Gift? Support WCG by giving a donation in someone's honor. Provide us with the needed information to send them a card indicating your gift. You can give a general donation, or select the program/item you would like to sponsor, and a donation-specific card will be sent indicating the "item" given to WCG. More information about WCG is included on the back of the card.

Contact us: 359-2658 or director@wasatchgardens.org to arrange an alternative gift, we can help you each step of the way, we'll even take an e-mailed list of recipients.

Use our on-line donation portal: Give an alternative gift by making a donation, and filling in all needed details in the "Comments" section. Please keep in mind that we require 5 working days to mail your gift, unless special arrangements are made.

When making an alternative gift online, be SURE to write all of the following in the "Comments" Section:

-Type of gift, using the titles listed above, General, Youth, etc. (so we can be sure you sponsor the item you wish and your recipient receives the right photo card, you can mix and match photos and gifts if you wish)
- Name and mailing address of recipient
- Inscription in card (in addition to, or instead of WCG's inscription)
- Name of Giver(s) (Are you Elizabeth on your Credit Card, but go by Beth?)

NOTES:

Cards for Christmas must be requested by 12/17 to be mailed in time.
Cards for the New Year must be requested by 12/20 to be mailed in time.

Online donations are still handled by real, live people in our office, so if you don't feel our on-line portal allows you to include the detail you wish, you can still complete your credit card donation, and just call or e-mail us to make any additions or changes.
